School Fossil Walks in Lyme Regis
Chris, your fossil guide, is an experienced educator and fossil hunter. Chris Andrew is a qualified teacher (PGCE) and was previously Learning Officer at Lyme Regis Museum for more than 15 years. Over the years, Chris has taken thousands of primary age school children out on the beaches of Lyme Regis to find fossils and to learn about Mary Anning. He is able to differentiate very effectively, and is well known in Lyme Regis for his inspirational and entertaining approach to education.
Chris has also hosted numerous Geology and Geography field trips, for GCSE, A-Level, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Chris can also offer Mary Anning Town Walks for smaller groups.

If doing a fossil walk, many (if not all) of your group will find fossils, which they can take home and keep. ALL of your group will see plenty of fossils out on the beach.
-
If doing a fossil walk, most pupils will wear their own clothes (with high-vis jackets provided by the school) or PE Kit. The beach can be muddy and it is not the occasion to come wearing your finest clothes. Trainers are usually OK in summer, but if it has been very wet we would recommend wellies.
There is coach parking available in Lyme Regis, and plenty of public toilets only a short walk from the beach.
Please contact me to discuss your requirements and to arrange a suitable date. Fossil walks depend on low tides, so start times and availability may vary.
"The children had an amazing day and loved it all. Chris was able to work with such a wide range of ages and abilities. They all learnt so much about such a variety of things and we are so grateful for such a treat for the children. Many of the children have since taken their families out fossil hunting with their new skills and knowledge!"
